Jet Airways Puts In Place A Number Of Measures To Minimize Passenger Inconvenience During FOG Period

December 12,2008:Jet Airways has put in place a number of measures to minimize passenger inconvenience arising out of flight disruptions and cancellations due to fog in the approaching winter season.

In case of anticipated flight delays/cancellations,passengers are requested to check the status of their respective flights before leaving for the airport by calling Jet Airways' call centre on 3989 3333,the airline’s toll-free number on 1800 22-55-22 or via the airline's Jet Mobile facility wherein passengers can check flight status by sending an SMS:Jet (Flight number) to 56388.

In case of flight disruptions due to fog,the airline will deploy additional aircraft for relief/additional flights,where possible.

In case of flight diversions,operations out of alternate airports have been planned in advance.

Affected passengers with tickets booked on certain fare levels,not issued from the station of departure,will be entitled to hotel accommodation, if available, in case of flight disruptions.Those travelling with tickets booked on certain fare levels issued from the station of departure will be provided with conveyance expenses to the place of residence/hotel, up to a maximum of INR 1500.

Jet Airways’ pilots have also been trained on the airline’s state-of-the-art simulators, as also given line training on board aircraft in order to ensure that flight operations into and out of fog affected airports remain largely unaffected,wherever possible.

Jet Airways Wins The 2008 Galileo Express Travelworld ‘Best Domestic Full Service Airline’ Award For The Sixth Year In A Row

December 12,2008:Jet Airways,India’s premier international airline,was honoured with the 2008 Galileo Express TravelWorld ‘Best Domestic Full Service Airline’award at a glittering function at the Grand Hotel,Delhi on December 10,2008.

This was the airline’s sixth consecutive victory in this category,in as many years.

Jet Airways Partners With Emirates,Effective December 15,2008

December 11,2008: Jet Airways,India's premier international airline,and Emirates Airline,the award-winning international carrier with extensive services from India, have announced their partnership plans spanning a reciprocal frequent flyer arrangement and unilateral code share agreement.

Effective December 15,2008,the two airlines will launch a reciprocal frequent flyer arrangement whereby members of Jet Airways'JetPrivilege, India's largest frequent flyer programme, may earn and redeem miles across Emirates'rapidly-expanding international network,with the exception of flights between India and Dubai.Members of Emirates'Skywards programme may also earn and redeem miles on all Jet Airways flights operating within India.

The same day,Emirates will also commence a unilateral code share on Jet Airways' daily flights from Mumbai and New Delhi to and from Dubai,offering passengers enhanced connectivity and a range of services between India and Dubai.

Jet Airways operates daily services on the Mumbai/New Delhi-Dubai sectors aboard its state-of-the-art Airbus A330-200 and B737-800 aircraft respectively, with a two-class configuration:Première (Business) and Economy.Jet Airways' flights on these sectors will be identified with its '9W' code as well as with the Emirates 'EK' code.

Jet Airways Doctor Wins Award In The Civil Aviation Category At The 48th ISAM Conference,Bengaluru

December10,2008:Jet Airways,India’s premier international airline,recently won the Best Paper award in the Aviation category at the 48th Annual Indian Society of Aviation Medicine(ISAM) Conference held in Bengaluru,1st-3rd December,2008.

Jet Airways’ Dr.Lambert D’Cunha,Asst.Manager Medical Services (Mumbai),was accorded with the Best Paper award for a paper presented by him on “MEDICAL DIVERSIONS ON COMMERCIAL AIRCRAFT –THE JET AIRWAYS EXPERIENCE”.Dr.Lambert’s study was based on flight diversions for a specific period,both domestic and international to,due medical emergencies.

In his insightful presentation,Dr. Lambert aims to determine the etiology / incidence of the in-flight medical emergencies leading to flight diversions;to audit the appropriateness of the decision to divert;and the appropriateness of the First Aid treatment administered by the cabin crew.

The contributions made by the Jet Airways Medical team were lauded by the delegates consisting of eminent members of the medical fraternity of the Indian Armed Forces and domestic commercial airlines.

The ISAM award is but the latest in a long line of awards that Jet Airways has been honored with,over the years,for excellence across several facets of its operations.

Jet Airways Reduces Fuel Surcharge On All Domestic Routes By INR 400,Effective December 06,2008

December 05, 2008: Effective December 6, 2008, Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline has announced a reduction in applicable passenger fuel surcharges on all domestic routes, in response to the recent reduction in domestic fuel prices.

For routes under 750 kms, Jet Airways has reduced the applicable fuel surcharge by INR 400, to INR 1950. Fuel surcharge on these routes previously stood at INR 2350.

For routes over 750 kms, Jet Airways has also reduced the applicable fuel surcharge by INR 400, to INR 2700. Fuel surcharge on these routes previously stood at INR 3100.

Jet Airways Route Restructuring & Cost Saving Programme Amid Economic Slowdown & Global Financial Crisis

December 02, 2008: In a bid to overcome the challenges faced, by all businesses and all airlines in particular, due to the current economic slowdown worldwide, Jet Airways has adjusted its route network and adopted several internal measures to trim costs across the organization.

While the Airline will continue its focus on building a world class airline through its product, services and its people, Jet Airways has reviewed and implemented a string of measures to reduce costs.

These measures include route rationalization, reducing frequency and capacity in line with demand, pruning down long haul expansion plans, renegotiating contracts and payment schedules with its vendors, pushing back new aircraft deliveries, leasing out surplus aircraft, letting go of excess foreign pilots in accordance with the terms of their contract, trimming executive ranks by reducing expatriate executives in India and overseas, reviewing and rationalizing perquisites and allowances across the Company, enforcing a general freeze in recruitment, eliminating overtime, identifying and eliminating wasteful activities and expenses, eliminating spends on expensive hotels, etc.

Over and above these measures, there is necessity to reduce costs even further. All employees earning a gross salary of over Rs. 75,000/- per month have been requested for a graduated wage cut over the next 12 months. For Pilots, this will be in the form of a combination of wage cut and allowance rationalization, which will bring the contribution of Pilots in line with the other employees in the Company. The top management team has taken a voluntary cut of 25 percent, effective Dec 08.

Jet Airways and its employees are united in their efforts and desire to work together to overcome the current difficulties faced by the airline and realize that these tough measures induced by the current economic environment are necessary to emerge as an even stronger, more competitive airline and to enable all its people to thrive in the longer term.

Jet Airways Special Premiere ‘Companion Free’ Offer On Its Service To Singapore, Malaysia & Thailand

December 02, 2008: Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline, has announced the introduction of a special ‘Companion free’ offer for the airline’s Premiere passengers travelling to Singapore, Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) and Thailand (Bangkok), to cater to the holiday traffic on these routes.

With the introduction of the offer, Jet Airways’ Première passengers may travel with a companion for the cost of a single return ticket on the sectors tabled below.**

Jet Airways operates daily services on the applicable routes, on-board its state-of-the-art Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

The offer is valid for sale with immediate effect, upto December 15, 2008. Travel, which may be commenced with immediate effect, must be completed by December 31, 2008.

Jet Airways Operates Relief Flights Into And Out Of Thailand

Dec 02,2008:Jet Airways has mounted relief operations for transporting stranded passengers at Bangkok,due to the political unrest in Thailand and consequent closure of Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport.Since Wednesday, 26 November, 2008, Jet Airways is operating relief flights into and out of Utaphao, a naval base airport in Thailand, from its gateway points Mumbai & Kolkata.

Having deployed Boeing 737-800 aircraft for these operations, Jet Airways has uplifted close to 1000 passengers until date, and is currently reviewing the situation in order to plan subsequent flights, in the days to come.

For the convenience of its customers, Jet Airways' has also set up a coordination cell, for managing the bookings and handling of its stranded travellers. Customers wanting to travel out of Thailand may call the Jet Airways Bangkok city office to register themselves on telephone number +662 696 8980 (local dial 02 696 8980).

Jet Airways will advise all registered customers details of reporting time and place for its complimentary bus service to Utaphao airport, a 2 hour journey from Bangkok. Priority in confirming bookings will be given based on the customer's original flight date.

Based on the current flight schedules ex-Utaphao the bus timings are 2 pm for the Mumbai bound and 5 pm for the Kolkata bound customers respectively.

In addition, Jet Airways has announced the waiver of cancellation/reissue charges on all confirmed tickets issued for travel into and out of Bangkok on Jet Airways flights up to the travel date of 05 December, 2008 and will allow involuntary rerouting without any penalties/additional charges for customers affected by its cancelled flights.

Jet Airways will further assist stranded customers in Bangkok who are able to travel out of airports such as Kuala Lumpur, Singapore or Hong Kong, by accepting their Bangkok -India flight coupons for use on those flights. Jet Airways To Reintroduce Services On The Chennai-Coimbatore Sector

November 25, 2008: Effective December 1, 2008, Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline will reintroduce services on the Chennai-Coimbatore sector.

The airline will commence daily flights on the sector aboard its new ATR 72-500 aircraft.

Flight 9W 3570 will depart Chennai at 1125 hrs and arrive Coimbatore at 1235 hrs. On the return, flight 9W 3571 will depart Coimbatore at 1305 hrs and arrive Chennai at 1415 hrs.

Jet Airways operates daily services from three gateway cities (Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi) to its European hub in Brussels and onwards to New York (Newark and JFK) and Toronto. The airline also offers daily services to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Colombo from Chennai.

Commenting on the service, Mr. Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, CEO, Jet Airways said, “Besides catering to the traffic on the Chennai-Coimbatore sector, Jet Airways’ new ATR service will also enable passengers from Coimbatore to connect to our international gateway in Chennai, and onwards to several destinations across Asia, Europe and North America.”

Jet Airways Reintroduces Bengaluru/Mangalore Flights & Enhances Pune/Bangalore Services,Dec 01,2008

Bengaluru/Mangalore, November 17, 2008: Jet Airways India’s premier international airline, will reintroduce daily service on the Bengaluru – Mangalore – Bengaluru sectors, effective December 01, 2008.This has been necessitated due to rise in popular demand in passenger traffic on these routes in the up coming holiday season.

Flight 9W 3561 will depart daily from Bengaluru at 0855 hrs in the morning, and arrive at Mangalore at 0955 hrs. On the return leg, flight 9W 3562 will leave Mangalore at 1025 hrs and arrive back at Bengaluru at 1125 hrs.

In the evening, flight 9W 3563 will depart Bengaluru at 1730 hrs and arrive in Mangalore at 1830 hrs. On the return journey, flight 9W 3564 will leave Mangalore at 1900 hrs and arrive back into Bengaluru at 2000 hrs.

With these timings, passengers travelling on business will find it convenient to take advantage of a same day return facility.

Also effective 1st December'08, Jet Airways will further enhance its services to and from India’s the IT hubs Pune and Bengaluru. Flight 9W 3559 will depart Pune daily at 0620 hrs and arrive in Bengaluru at 0820 hrs. 9W 3560 will then depart Bengaluru 2030 hrs and arrive in Pune at 2250 hrs.

This is in addition to Jet Airways’ existing services operated by 9W 445 on the Bengaluru – Pune, and 9W 446 on the Pune - Bengaluru routes.

All the above routes will be serviced by Jet Airways’ comfortable turboprop aircraft, ATR 72-500 series, with an all economy configuration.

Jet Airways Becomes The First Indian Airline To Obtain Regulatory Approval To Undertake Performance Based Navigation (PBN)

Mumbai,November 17,2008: Jet Airways has become the first airline in India,to have obtained regulatory approval for the use of RNAV1 (Area Navigation) across its entire jet aircraft fleet.This is subsequent to the recently introduced Performance Based Navigation (PBN) procedures in India.

Additionally, Jet Airways has also become the first airline in India to have obtained regulatory approval for the conduct of RNP 0.3 approaches at applicable airfields.

With this advanced technology, a very high level of navigational accuracy is achieved, thus enabling better airspace utilisation through stringent accuracy requirements. This method allows aircraft to operate on any station referenced navigation aids or self contained aids or both, thus enabling optimization of airspace, reducing dependency on routes based on ground navigation aids and permitting reduced separation between two airborne aircrafts, without compromising safety standards.

Accordingly, Jet Airways has trained its jet fleet pilots to operate these procedures.

November 10,2008:Jet Airways will forge a frequent flyer partnership with United Airlines,one of the largest international carriers based in the United States,effective November 15,2008.

Jet Airways Connects Bengaluru With New York (Newark and JFK) and Toronto Via Brussels

October 31,2008: Jet Airways today connected Bengaluru with New York (Newark and JFK) and Toronto, via its European hub in Brussels with four weekly flights- on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays respectively, till December 14, 2008.

In keeping with the higher holiday season passenger traffic, Jet Airways will increase its frequency on the sector, operating daily flights between Bengaluru and Brussels effective December 15, 2008 to January 15, 2009; and will revert to flying four times a week on the same sector, effective January 16, 2009 onwards.

The launch of Jet Airways’ inaugural service on the Bengaluru-Brussels sector was marked by a multi-faith prayer session at the new Bengaluru International Airport, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the inaugural lamp by Mr. Albert Brunner, CEO, BIAL and Mr. Sudheer Raghavan, Chief Commercial Officer, Jet Airways.

Flight 9W 132 departed the new Bengaluru International Airport at 0135 hrs, arriving at Brussels International Airport at 0755 hrs. On the return leg, Jet Airways flight 9W 131 will depart Brussels at 1010 hrs and arrive at Bengaluru at 0005 hrs the following morning.

With the launch of these services, arriving passengers from Bengaluru can now conveniently connect to Jet Airways’ transatlantic services to North America and Europe in a seamless manner, on board its state-of-the-art Airbus 330-200 aircraft offering an unmatched international Premiere and Economy Class experience.

Jet Airways’ passengers can currently connect to six additional destinations in the United States and seven destinations across Europe through its code share partnerships with American Airlines and Brussels Airlines respectively.

This enhanced connectivity on Jet Airways includes Washington Reagan, Dallas, Boston, Cleveland, Baltimore and Raleigh-Durham in the United States, via New York (JFK) and to Birmingham, Madrid, Barcelona, Berlin Tegel, Manchester, Paris De Gaulle and Lyon in Europe, via Brussels.

Commenting on this new route development, Mr. Sudheer Raghavan said, “Jet Airways is proud to commence its signature wide body operations from Bengaluru to North America and Europe via its Brussels hub. Bengaluru will now be the fourth major Indian gateway for Jet Airways’ services to North America via Brussels, in addition to Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai”.

Jet Airways Announces Optimization Of Its Long-Haul International Network

October 10, 2008: In light of the downturn in major economies worldwide, more specifically in the USA and UK, Jet Airways plans to optimize its network, focusing more on its established international gateways and routes.

As part of the same, the airline’s Mumbai-Shanghai-San Francisco route will be discontinued effective January 13, 2009.

Passenger traffic between India and San Francisco will be served via Jet Airways’ London gateway in cooperation with partner airlines.

Jet Airways has already announced a code share partnership with United Airlines with convenient connections between Mumbai and several US points via London in both directions. This will enable Jet Airways to continue to serve its San Francisco customers, under a 9W flight number, in a more economically viable manner.

Jet Airways Introduces Attractive Eight and Fifteen Day Apex Fares On Key Domestic Routes

October 22, 2008: Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline, has announced the introduction of attractive eight and fifteen-day apex fares on key domestic routes.

The new fares are applicable for sale and travel with immediate effect, and can be applied on both return and one-way journeys.

Reservations may be made through Jet Airways’ offices across India or through travel agents.

Passengers travelling on these routes may also earn 20% of base JPMiles when they avail of the Apex fares.

Jet Airways Wins The Prestigious TTG Travel Award 2008, For ‘Best Domestic Airline’

October 21, 2008: Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline was honoured with the much coveted ‘Best Domestic Airline Award’ for the Year 2008, at the 19th TTG Travel Awards 2008. The award was accepted by Mr. Gaurang Shetty, Senior Vice President, Alliance & Interline Distribution at a Presentation Ceremony and Gala Dinner in Bangkok, which was attended by established players in the travel trade, across Asia Pacific.

TTG Travel Award winners are selected, based on votes cast by readers of the TTG magazine across the Asia Pacific region. The TTG Awards recognize and salute luminaries and stalwarts in the travel trade industry for their stellar performance and for being established the ‘Best’ in their respective categories.

Jet Airways and Jetlite Forge Codeshare Agreement On Key Domestic Routes

October 21, 2008: Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline, has entered into a codeshare arrangement with JetLite, its wholly-owned, all economy subsidiary as part of its ongoing efforts to offer passengers synergetic benefits when they choose to fly with the Jet group.

As part of the agreement, Jet Airways will place its marketing code (9W) on key domestic routes operated by JetLite, enabling both carriers to offer passengers better connections and a wider network.

The codeshare is open for sale and travel with immediate effect.

Jet Airways’ JetPrivilege members travelling on these codeshare flights* can avail of a range of JP benefits, including the accrual of JPMiles based on class of travel. Moreover, the JPMiles thus earned will be Status JPMiles, and these JPMiles as well as each codeshare flight will also count toward JetPrivilege tier upgrade/ retention. JPMembers will also earn Tier Bonus JPMiles and Online booking bonus for the codeshare flights booked on the Jet Airways website.

Jet Airways Citibank Co-brand Credit Cardholders can use their companion discount vouchers on codeshare routes on applicable booking classes.

Exclusively for Platinum members, there will be a waiver of cancellation charges on all these codeshare flights.*

Commenting on the codeshare, Mr. Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, Chief Executive Officer, Jet Airways said, “The codeshare agreement with JetLite will enable both carriers to optimally leverage their respective networks, offering passengers enhanced online connectivity across more than fifty domestic and international markets.”
